Welcome to the Quarterly Update Newsletter from Tattle. Here’s a rundown on what we’ve been up to in Quarter 1 of 2026.
Highlights
- We co-hosted 2 events on AI safety at the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi.
- We are close to making the data collected by the Deepfakes Analysis Unit available for public access.
- We conducted 12 Uli workshops over 3 days at a College in Coimbatore.
- We built guardrails for Personally Identifiable Information, Indian Slurs and Gender Assumption Bias.
- Uli has been selected in UNICEF’s Femtech Ventures cohort.
Uli and UNICEF Femtech Ventures Cohort
Over the years, datasets and ML models created for Uli have been used by researchers, civil society and platforms to research or moderate online gender based violence.
However, the social media users who are on the receiving end of online abuse have not been able to use Uli directly so far.
Through the Femtech venture fund program we are testing a business model around consensual data sharing and social media monitoring.
Project Updates
AI Safety
This quarter the Tattle team and Tech4Dev Kaapi Team put their head down to ship code.
The result was merging one PR after another to Kaapi Guardrails.

Uli Workshops
Poorvi and Denny were invited to Kumaraguru College of Liberal Arts and Science to conduct Uli Workshops.
In January, over three days, we conducted 12 workshops with around 340 college students from departments as diverse as economics, data science, psychology, sports, visual communication and Tamil creative writing.

Deepfakes Analysis Unit
The Deepfakes Analysis Unit has been operational for 2 years now.
Tattle is a strong proponent of open data for transparency and facilitating collaboration. Due to the sensitive nature of data on this project, we’ve had to be more cautious about it.
Tattle at the India AI Impact Summit
Over the last year, Tattle has had the opportunity to work closely with the social sector.
Tattle organized the speaker session titled AI that works: Evaluating Technology for Social Change focused on providing a theoretical framework for AI evaluations and practical examples of evaluations carried out by non-profits.
Tattle’s AI Usage Policy
The Tattle team met in Rishikesh this February.
We chose to discuss and finalize an AI usage policy for Tattle.
